This hood was discovered in a bog in Orkney in 1867. It was buried, perhaps lost, in the ground around 1500 years ago. Textiles rarely survive, so it's ✨ quite remarkable ✨ that this woolen garment is completely intact. It’s the only complete piece of clothing to survive from before the medieval period in Scotland. Research has shown that it likely belonged to a child and was made using an older garment that was carefully recycled, perhaps from an older relative. See it on display in the Early P
