The ND Game and Fish department recently detected river otter activity on the Sheyenne and placed a trail camera to try to capture some footage of the otters. River otters live in burrows near water. They hunt at night and feed on fish, amphibians, turtles and crayfish. River otters are uncommon in North Dakota, we encourage anyone who observes one of these cryptic furbearers, their sign (e.g., tracks), or captures a trail camera photo to report your sighting to us at https://gf.nd.gov/hunting/f
