The Triple Crown's middle jewel was won by Kentucky Derby runner-up Journalism, who went off as the even-money favorite and had to overcome severe traffic problems at the top of the stretch under jockey Umberto Rispoli.

Journalism has won the 150th running of the Preakness Stakes. The heavy favorite made good on lofty expectations two weeks after finishing second to Sovereignty in the Kentucky Derby.
