Tayjahn Thomas, 23, was shot and killed in his home at the Renaissance at Lowry Boulevard apartment complex at 550 Alton Way on Tuesday, Denver police said.

It happened early Saturday morning near the intersection of E. 10th Avenue and Lincoln Street. Police said a suspect or suspects shot two people at that location, leading to a homicide investigation.

Just before 9 p.m., officers patrolling a nearby neighborhood heard fireworks in the 4300 block of North Del Rio Court, according to Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas. When officers arrived to the scene, they found five people standing in the street around a mortar to shoot fireworks, Thomas said.
