Slade Cecconi pitched six strong innings and the Cleveland Guardians topped the host Detroit Tigers 3-1 on Friday night.

Right field has long been a land of platoon bats, repositioned infielders and patchwork free-agent signings for Cleveland.

Guardians center fielder Lane Thomas, who hasn't played since April 19 due to an injured right wrist, was activated and will start in Thursday's game vs. the Tigers.
