President Trump said Russia and Ukraine will immediately begin ceasefire talks after his separate phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

President Trump appears to have backed off joining a European push for new sanctions on Russia, seemingly eager to move on to doing business deals with it.

"It is obvious that Russia is trying to buy time to continue the war and occupation," Zelensky said on X.
