Microsoft 365 Insiders are testing a change in Word for Windows. Instead of saving new documents to your computer, Word will now save them to OneDrive by default.

Microsoft 365 is the de facto option. But if you just need to open, edit, and create basic documents, you don’t have to spend anything.

They’re free to download and use, but if you want to edit and create files on a device with a screen larger than 10.1 inches, you need an active Microsoft 365 subscription.
