GitHub is morphing its open source code editor, Atom, into more of a full-fledged IDE with a new project appropriately called Atom-IDE.

The first step in Atom’s transition from text editor to IDE is an optional package of features developed with Facebook called Atom-IDE, released in September 2017.

The developers behind the Atom text editor have promoted version 1.20 to the stable channel and 1.21 to the beta channel. The 1.21 release brings the Atom IDE project closer to realization.
