The Pittsburgh Pirates are going nowhere fast, and trade rumors about their ace, Paul Skenes, have started to swirl. MLB insider Ken Rosenthal identified the Boston Red Sox as a team that could actually pay the price to get him.

Pittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitcher Paul Skenes is just 22 years old, but he's already one of, if not the best pitcher in baseball. Skenes, who won the 2024 National League Rookie of the Year award,

Coming into the 2025 MLB regular season, the Texas Rangers had one of the more highly-touted farm systems in baseball.

Skenes is having a ridiculous sophomore season, with an ERA of 2.44 and 62 strikeouts in 62.2 innings pitched. Opponents are batting just .190 off of Skenes, but the lack of run support has limited him to three winning decisions against five losses.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have one of the best pitchers in baseball, but have done little to convince him to remain with them beyond his current contract.
