A former Minneapolis police sergeant accused of stalking and harassing his former romantic partner and co-worker is firing back in court filings, claiming the allegations are a ploy to divert attention away from an Internal Affairs Division investigation into her fake overtime claims.
A 31-year-old Minneapolis man is accused of stabbing his mother multiple times at a park in Edina on Sunday, and told authorities he had planned to kill her before trying to take his own life, according to court documents.
There have been three homicides in Minneapolis since Friday morning, according to police. The first homicide happened early Friday near Franklin Avenue and Lyndale Avenue. Police arrived to the area around 2:30 a.m. and found a man with life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital but later died from his injuries.
