INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark says it was too loud inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse for her to hear racial comments from fans directed at Angel Reese during Saturday’s season-opening 93-58 victory over the Chicago Sky and that she supports the WNBA’s investigation.

Caitlin Clark was more popular last weekend than Juan Soto ‘s return to Yankee Stadium. Per Jimmy Traina, the Mets - Yankees game on Sunday night on ESPN drew an average of 2.5 million viewers, compared with an average of 2.7 million for Clark’s game Saturday with the Indiana Fever against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky that aired on ABC.

Fox Sports prioritizes viewership numbers, leading to noon kickoffs for major games like the Ohio State vs. Texas matchup. An Ohio representative proposed a bill mandating later start times for top-10 opponent games, but the Big Ten's contract with Fox complicates the matter.

Over the weekend the Chicago Sky suffered an embarrassing 93-58 loss at the hands of Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. The reigning WNBA Rookie of the year dropped 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to become the fastest played in league history to three career triple-doubles.

Indiana Fever fans are loving it—after just one dominant game, ESPN is already rethinking its preseason stance on Caitlin Clark’s squad.
